What Are Bonsai Tweezers Used For?

Use them for weeding and cleaning around the rim of a pot, at the base of a tree and between branches where fingers cannot easily reach.

For pines, tweezers are also used for needle thinning and removing old needles.

Models with a spatula at the other end can also be used to press moss lightly into place when laying it.

How to Choose Bonsai Tweezers

Straight tweezers suit reaching directly into gaps between branches, while curved tweezers approach the soil surface at an angle. Curved tips can also make it easier to see what you are gripping.

Compact tweezers suit close work in small pots, while longer models can reach between branches and into deeper spaces. Choose a length that lets you move the tips easily around your tree and pot.

Look for tips that meet evenly and open and close with light pressure. Check the spring tension and how comfortably the tweezers sit in your hand.

Using and Caring for Bonsai Tweezers

Grip weeds close to their base and pull them out without disturbing nearby roots or shifting too much soil. Use the spatula to press moss lightly into place and even out its surface.

After use, remove soil and sap, wipe off moisture and let the tweezers dry. Check the tips for misalignment or bending before storing them.
